Built like a house.

We put a shed in one of our own backyards. We didn’t think hard about it. It’s a shed.

So we bought a kit from a big-box store for a few thousand dollars, poured a slab ourselves, and set it up on top.

Under a year later it was sagging. The door wouldn’t close right. You could lean on a wall and feel it move.

We tore it down. That was the easy part, and that was the whole problem — there was barely anything there to tear down. A kit shed is a shell.

So we built a beast of a shed in its place.

We treated it like an addition on the house. Same foundation. Same framing. The same siding we’d put on a room somebody was going to live in. And we built it how we actually wanted it, instead of how it came in a box.

Then everybody who came over started asking about it.

Not “nice shed.” They’d walk over to it. Look at how it was put together. And say, “Holy sh*t.”

We went looking for who else was building them this way.

We’d been running a general construction company for years by then — additions, ADUs, remodels — so we knew what we were looking at. And what we found was honestly a shock. There are companies selling custom sheds all over Southern California. Look at the framing and the materials on most of them and it’s the same shell in a nicer wrapper, priced like it’s something else.

Nobody was building them right.

So we started Bedrock. It began as a passion project and turned into an obsession. Every building goes up on site, fully custom, with nothing cut short to hit a number.

Just a beast of a shed in your backyard.
